CPRail negotiations update April 26, 2007

April 26th, 2007

Brothers and Sisters,

As we continue into the ninth straight day of negotiations with CPRail here in Vancouver, we have not served 72 hour strike notice. I realize that rumours abound out in the field, but we will not serve notice unless there is no other reasonable avenue left to us. It has been, and will remain, the Union's position that we want a fair negotiated settlement and therefore continue to work the issues. I know that this is a stressful time for all of you and I hope that you know how much we truly appreciate all of your support and your patience.

The support that we are receiving from outside of our division is huge, as well. I am printing the support letters on the web site and there are even more phone calls and e-mails every day.

Keep the faith, Brothers and Sisters. We deserve what we are demanding, we have earned what we are demanding and they can afford what we are demanding.
We will never lose sight of that.

I know this letter is short but everything that we are presently working at is "off the record" until either a deal or an impasse is reached. And we are not at either one right now, though that could change quickly and when it does I will let you know.

Stay safe, stay strong, stay united, and say a prayer for Lonnie Plasko's family tonight, to ease them through their grief.

Fraternally,

Bill Brehl
President
