Official Convention Call

To: All Secretary-Treasurers of local lodges affiliated with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employees Division and officers of the Division.

The Officers of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employees Division Executive Board, duly elected by the membership and appointed by the Trustee, herewith issue this official Convention call for a Special Convention of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employees Division to be convened on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. and continue through to Sunday, November 6, 2005 until 12:00 noon.

This Special Convention will be held in Calgary, Alberta at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel.

This Special Convention is called for the following purposes:

  1. To receive the Report of the Election and Installation of the Executive Board.
  2. To receive the reports of the Executive Board Officers.
  3. To receive the report on the Trustee Administration.
  4. To receive the report of the duly appointed By-laws Committee concerning the proposed tentative Division By-Laws and vote on adoption of same.
  5. To receive an education session centering on labour law issues.
  6. To receive the report of the President concerning upcoming negotiations.

The Special Convention shall be limited to the aforementioned subjects.

The following will prevail as to requirements for representation of delegates to the Special Convention:

  • Each affiliated Local Lodge is entitled to send one (1) delegate, or alternate delegate, to the Special Convention.
  • Delegates and alternate delegates have been elected earlier this year and will stand as same.
  • Officers of the TCRC-MWED Executive Board who were duly elected and appointed by the Trustee to administer the Division shall be delegates by virtue of their positions with full rights associated with delegate status.
  • All delegates must be in good standing in their Local Lodges.

Your credentials are enclosed. Please insure that your delegate has the Original credential as soon as possible. The Duplicate must be executed and returned by Monday, October 31, 2005 to the:

There will be a hotel room booked for your delegate at the:

Fairmont Palliser Hotel
133 Ninth Avenue SW
Calgary AB T2P 2M3

The Division will pay transportation and lodging costs for one (1) delegate, or alternate delegate, to the Convention from each Local Lodge.

The Division will be covering your lodging for room, taxes and parking (if applicable) only.

As for meals, each delegate will be paid (upon registration) $40 per day for 3 days.

Please have your delegate confirm that they will be attending, as soon as possible so that flights can be arranged. They can confirm at 1-800-567-0571 and they will be given a contact number where they can arrange their flight.

There is also an informal dinner planned for the night of November 5th at the Palliser.
