Care: Donation of $1000.00
This picture is of Brothers Perry Nieman and Dennis Hoffman presenting
Mike of the Hope Misssion in Edmonton with a cheque of $1000.00.
The picture was taken by Local Chair Dale Kugyelka, who was also
there to present the cheque.
The cheque was donated in the name of "TEAMSTERS CARE" by
the Brothers and Sisters of Lodge 373.
All I can say is, you guys are amazing. This heartfelt donation
will go a long way to insuring that a great many people who are
less fortunate than us, have a much better and warmer holiday.
Christmas is about giving and the brothers and sisters of lodge
373 reached into their hearts and gave, all for the benefit of
others.
In London, Ontario, Lodge # 195 has authorized the purchasing of
toys on behalf of "TEAMSTERS CARE" to donate to the Children's
Cancer wing of the London Hospital. Lodge 195 Local Chair Mark
Wardle and President Pat Metcalfe have also been collecting toys
from the guys at work and have amassed quite a few to add to the
donation.
In Ottawa, our "TEAMSTERS CARE" toybox is overflowing
and it looks like Roberto, Lise and I are going to have more than
a trunkload to deliver next week.
In Toronto Yard, lodge # 419 Local Chair Bill Brake has been collecting
toys for the last two weeks and is getting ready to bring them
all down to Sick Kids Hospital. He also wanted me to remind all
of you to keep Steve Mason's 5 year old son Stephan in your thoughts
and prayers. Steve is a track maintainer in Toronto, who's son
Stephan has been operated on for a malignant brain tumour. He is
recovering at the moment in Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and even
thought the tumour was surgically removed, Stephan must now undergo
further treatment to eradicate the cancer.
Brothers and Sisters, Stephan and the thousands of other brave
little kids like him, are the reason that we are doing everything
that we can this holiday season to raise money to fight cancer
and toys to raise the spirits of those engaged in the fight. Please
open your hearts and your wallets and send a donation or bring
a toy to work and put it in the "TEAMSTERS CARE" toy
box. If there isn't one at your terminal, set one up and send the
toys to:
"
TEAMSTERS CARE " c/o 2775 Lancaster Blvd, Ottawa, ON K1B 4V8
You can send individual toys, as well. And you can send cheques
made out to the Canadian Cancer Society which we will insure get
forwarded.
Christmas is a special time, let's try and make it special for
everyone. Thanks for all that you do, but most of all thanks for
caring.
Happy Holidays to you and yours,
Bill Brehl
A Proud and Caring Teamster
