Today I received the two (2) attachments
by fax from the Washington office. I would like to thank Ms. Weiss
for her letter of support for our members who endured this humiliating
and abusive treatment at the hands of CPRail's private police
force. To my knowledge, CPRail has not made any kind of effort
to right this wrong or even offered an apology to the 6 members
who were treated this way. It should be noted that their arrest
and notice to appear was quashed by a Provincial Court Judge,
mere days after the incident, and deemed as "oppressive"
by that court.
Perhaps letters from Ms. Weiss and people of like mind, interested
in social justice and the upholding of basic human rights and
dignity, will spur CPRail into doing the right thing by these
employees, without being forced by a court of law. Anyway, we
can always hope.
Fraternally,
Bill Brehl
