Jim Karygiannis meets with Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employee Division

Mr. Jim Karygiannis MP, Scarborough-Agincourt and Parliamentary Secretary of Transportation, met with Brothers Bill Brehl, National Coordinator and Louis Wilson, Director at Large, on Friday June 10th at the Toronto Yard at Agincourt.

Mr. Karygiannis toured the yard and met with members during a lunchtime meeting. Several issues were discussed; of note were the concerns over the deterioration of track in Eastern Canada and the pre-spiking of rail ties by foreign workers.

The meeting gave Mr. Karygiannis the opportunity to get a preliminary idea of what the members’ work involved. Brother Brehl said: “It was great to see a Jim take the time and show interest in our issues, and I expect this is the first of many meetings to come.”
