Multi Track Protection Policy & Danger Live Track Placards

May 3, 2007

Brothers and Sisters,

Since 2005 we've had a Service Directive stating we must ensure live track placards are on specific track units. Since then new equipment purchased has been equipped with the live track placards.

We've had a incident in multi track territory in British Columbia, as well CNRail has recently had a fatality in multi track territory. The need to revisit Our CPRail multi track protection Policy needs to be addressed. The language to incorporate the live track placards being hung in place between the hand rails on all equipment supplied with theses placards, is the need.

I will forward the multi track protection Policy for your review. I believe the change could be addressed under section number 1.7 Train Passage. Please reply back to your thoughts on this ES Policy committee issue, level.
