Union
Meeting in Newfoundland January 14, 2006
Brothers,
We are going to have a Union meeting in Newfoundland, starting
at 1300 on Saturday, January 14, 2006.
It will be at the Marystown Hotel, at 76 Ville Marie Drive, A0E
2M0, in Marystown, Nfld (Phone # 709- 269- 1600). They have a
meeting room for 150 people and everyone who can make it is welcome
and encouraged to attend
Many of our members in TP&E who live in Newfoundland have
complained, and rightly so, that they can never get to a Union
meeting. They work all over each district and are never aware
of when the meetings are held or even which lodge they belong
to.
So, on a suggestion from Brother Bill Brake, we are bringing the
meeting to them. This is an especially important year as it will
be the first time that Extra Gang Labourers will bid for EGL posiitons.
It is also a contract year with the demands being put together
over and as much input as we can get, the better. But most importantly,
it is fundamental for the solidarity of our Union that we keep
the lines of communication open and the dialogue flowing.
Marystown was chosen, because I heard that it was probably central
to most of our members over there.
We will be sending out a letter to all members with NFLD. addresses
letting them know and Brothers Rod Warren, Angus Moores, Bill
Brake and many others will be spreading the word. If there is
a big turnout, this will probably turn into an annual meeting
after the gangs shut down.
Fraternally yours,
Bill Brehl
President
