Please read through the following very carefully. I am advising everyone NOT to get involved with this focus group at all.
It would seem that the company, unless not living up to Appendix B-19 was an oversight, has purposely hid this from the Union until they could get it started (and possibly finished). I personally do not believe that it was an oversight.
This study could very well be (and more than likely is) a method of finding ways to cut your jobs. And the sad thing is, that would mean that your employer tried to trick you into helping them do it.
I found out yesterday, that they gave themselves all 6 "flex" days. These are days above and beyond their AV and general holidays, that they can take off with pay. These are as well as working 9 to 1630, with weekends off. Meanwhile, we can't even get the three day waiting period for Manulife abolished and we have trouble cashing in our banked overtime, when we try to use that so we can keep full paycheques.
So not only are they getting a break with even more time off (with pay), it looks like they want us to do their work for them and figure out ways to cut our own jobs.
Don't forget, Mr. Neal Foot (who wrote the letter) pulled in over a million dollars last year at CPRail. A million dollars!!! And he was the least paid of the top 5.
Again, I ask you to read the company's letters carefully and DO NOT help them with their "focus groups" until we are sure that this is not just a smokescreen to help them cut jobs. Let your Director or myself know if you are approached and don't be fooled.
