Strike/Lockout Instructions
This
correspondence is being generated on behalf of President Brehl
whom is currently traveling between locations attempting to bring
the Company back to negotiations.
It
has been brought to our attention there are several Supervisors
across CP Rail’s property advising our Members they will
be locked out effective Monday April 23 2007.
Pursuant to Section 87.2 Canada Labor Code the Company must provide
the Union and the Minister of Labor with seventy-two hours notice
of the date and time a lockout is to commence. This has not been
done.
This
action by the Company can be interpreted in several fashions (a)
miscommunication or incompetence (b) or a strategy to mislead
our Members not to show up on Monday April 23, thereby arming
themselves with the tools to accuse us of an illegal work stoppage.
Regardless
of the reasons the Company is saying what they are saying, it
is imperative, all Members report for work just as you would on
any other normal day, until the Union advises you otherwise or
the Company sends you home.
