Teamsters Canada Women’s Conference

Melanie Boyko, a group 4 operator from the Pacific Region and our Pacific Region Human Rights Representative, attended the Teamsters Canada Women's Conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario, last weekend.

Those of you that know Melanie, know that she is a strong speaker and a caring, fearless and compassionate person. Though she has only recently begun her tenure as the HR rep, I'm hearing nothing but good from the membership concerning her work. She was asked to give a short speech at the Women's conference, which went over really well.

She spoke on safety, the needs of all members, the concerns involved with being a woman in a traditionally male workplace and the solidarity of uniting rail labour as the newest members of the Teamsters organization.

Melanie Boyko is the TCRC MWED Human Rights rep from the Pacific Region and a
group 4 machine operator in BC. From left to right, Bob Bouvier (President of Teamsters Canada), Melanie and Jimmy Hoffa (General President of the IBT)
