Another letter of support
May 21, 2007
Brothers and Sisters,
Sorry I have not been able to do an update for a few days but the picket line has kept me busy. Everything is going well, there have been a few tense moments but we are getting through them. Though CP did find a trucking company that could find a dozen or so drivers that would cross our line here at Pitt Meadows, the traffic is down to less than 10%.
I'm sorry to report that regardless of what the company is reporting to the media, the track is in poor shape and getting worse with a record number of slow orders. Many running trades employees have been expressing at our lines that they no longer feel safe and I feel that it will only be a matter of time before they start to refuse to go over the under-inspected track.
Attached is another letter of support that I felt that I should share. I again left off the name as you all no how petty and vindictive CPRail management can be.
Stay safe, stay strong, stay united

Brother Bill,
I know you folks are extremely busy, but I have to show support. I will be brief. All the best to you and all the members fighting for fairness on Canadian Pacific Railway,
On the gentlemans (or womans) comments from the C.E.P.U., he is absolutely right. The individuals entering the workforce now are very sharp. In addition, they want what is fair and not at all concerned about what it takes to get there. Corporate America (North America) is in for a big surprise over the next few decades if they think their oppressive, imitative tactics will work against these workers.
It is sad that CP management does not realize that if they put as much effort in trying to effectively manage the railroad operations, as they do in trying to suppress the employees who work here, they would be Canadas number #1 railroad.
What happened to CP Rails Integrity and Ingenuity; I suspect it has been traded in for greed and intimidation. Well we know you will not be intimidated, and fairness will prevail. I have been told by some employees here on the D&H that they are being told remove stickers that say “We support our Canadian brothers and sisters at Canadian Pacific Railway†from their hardhats. How petty, this is what they have time to do. The methods are laughable. They are getting frustrated, and we all know the strike is having an effect.
The best of luck you to all of the men and women of the Teamsters-Canada- who are walking picket lines, or honoring picket lines, to try and protect modest blue-collar careers.
Someone, somebody, somewhere has to say enough is enough.
All we can do here in the states is verbally support the cause, but your struggle is truly a struggle for all of working-class in USA and Canada. You are in our hearts and our minds.
Good Luck and God Bless, and we on the D&H hope that CP comes back to the negotiating table and continues to make meaningful attempts at negotiation.
What kind of company can afford to have 1300 management personnel get up and leave their jobs to do someone elses work? What were these people doing, who is doing their jobs now? Is everyone supposed to believe that this does not have an effect on running a company? What do they do all day, if they can get up and leave their job, and their absence does not have an effect on the company?
I truly do not get it.
Well, In Unity,
